Upcoming PD activities are listed below. When you select a particular event, you will be provided with a description of that event, the venue details and the default registration fee.

Provided you are a current member and are logged-in with your member username and password, the discounted registration fee appropriate to your membership category will be calculated and applied to your registration prior to payment. Once you have completed the registration and made payment, you will receive an automatic acknowledgement email that will contain your receipt.

If you are a current member and you do not log-in BEFORE you start the registration process, you will be charged the full non-member registration fee.

  • Intro into Medical Legal (Intro Forensic OT and reporting) - 13 Jun 2013

    This one day workshop is intended for occupational therapists who are either considering entering the field of forensic occupational therapy (providing an expert opinion to the court) or are already practicing in the field and are looking for a refresher course. The participants will discuss the process of assessment as well as the preparation of a concise and informative report.

  • Motivational Interviewing - 28 Jun 2013

    This one day workshop is designed as an introductory workshop, providing practical skills development through a combination of didactic and experiential modalities.

    Stan Steindl is a clinical psychologist with broad experience spanning over 20 years in both public and private practice settings. His PhD examined motivational interviewing techniques and cognitive-behavioural therapy in the treatment of combat veterans with co-morbid posttraumatic stress disorder and alcohol dependence. He has maintained a strong interest in motivational interviewing techniques and in 2007 he participated in a 'train-the-trainer' workshop in Chicago, USA, conducted by Professor Bill Miller, co-developer of the motivational interviewing approach, and Dr Terri Moyers. In 2009 he was mentored by highly experienced and innovative MI trainer Steve Berg-Smith in San Francisco. Stan is an experienced presenter, an adjunct senior lecturer at The University of Queensland, and conducts regular workshops to a broad range of health professionals on motivational interviewing and cognitive-behavioural therapy

  • The Use of MOHO and its Assessment Tools in Mental Health Practice - 19 Jul 2013

    A one day workshop presented by Samantha Ashby. The Model of Human Occupation is an occupationally-focused model of practice which can guide occupationally-based practice. This workshop will introduce the participants to the most recent edition of the Model of Human Occupation. It will also explore how assessment tools derived from the MOHO can be used in Mental Health Practice.

    The focus will be on the assessment tools’ clinical utility as standardised instruments which can identify client’s occupational issues and act as outcome measures for occupational therapy interventions.

    Please note that this is also relevant for providers of the Better Access to Mental Health Care Scheme.
