SESSION OVERVIEW

This session is an OTA Member Forum. NDIA has announced it has started work to design and test a new approach to NDIS budget setting that includes general and specialised support needs assessment tools. This raises a lot of concerns and questions about the future scope of occupational therapy under the NDIS. At this Member Forum OTA will provide an update on what is proposed, what this means for members working under the NDIS and OTA’s advocacy plan to ensure the profession is represented and protected during the NDIS reforms.

FACILITATOR  

Philipp Herrmann - Principal Consultant at Square Space Consulting. Phillip is an experienced advocacy, policy and strategic communications professional with extensive health, disability, aged care and not for profit experience. He is passionate about building capacity within organisations to help them more effectively achieve their goals. 

PRESENTERS

Michelle Oliver – Chief Occupational Therapist at OTA. Michelle is a passionate and focused occupational therapist with extensive experience within clinical and professional leadership roles, working for over 15 years within the public mental health sector in South Australia. Michelle has a Master of Occupational Therapy from the University of South Australia.  

Ailsa Leslie - OT Practice Advisor at OTA. Ailsa is an occupational therapist with extensive experience across a range of settings including community practice, education and private consulting. She has provided services under the NDIS since the scheme’s inception in Tasmania. She has a special interest in paediatrics, assistive technology and professional supervision. 

Julia Collin – Principal Policy Advisor at OTA. Julia leads OTA’s advocacy on NDIS issues and is an experienced policy and government relations advisor with more than 15 years experience across the government and not-for profit sector. She has a Masters of Public Policy and Management from University of Melbourne.
