OVERVIEW
The pressure management interest group is convened to facilitate collaboration, knowledge sharing, and professional development among Australian Occupational Therapists.
The primary objectives are:
- Nurture a community of connected occupational therapists whose practice encompasses positioning and pressure management of people in any setting: build relationships and provide a sense of belonging; nurture novice therapists; share ideas and expertise
- Grow the capacity of Australian Occupational Therapists in seating, positioning and pressure care: promote and discuss best practice; share knowledge, advance Occupational Therapy knowledge and research about supporting the occupations and wellbeing of people who are at risk.
- Advocate for the role of Occupational Therapy in promoting the health and wellbeing of people with seating, positioning and pressure care needs, within Australian research, health, aged care and disability environments.

Tracy Nowicki
Clinical Nurse Consultant
Tracy is employed as a Clinical Nurse Consultant in a major, acute care teaching hospital in Brisbane. Over the years, Tracy has acquired extensive clinical expertise and management knowledge while working across a number of clinical specialties. A significant focus of her current role is to bring innovation to the development of central equipment management so as to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Pressure Injury prevention, Falls Injury prevention, assisting staff to understand the complexities of obesity and quality risk management are the focus points of Tracy’s job. Tracy has been on the Steering Committee for the Pan Pacific Pressure Injury Guidelines and review of the Global Pressure Injury Guidelines (2019 & 2025). Tracy has been actively involved in simplifying Standard Comprehensive Care to assist clinicians to deliver best practice for their patients. She is the state lead for the Queensland Bariatric Special Interest Group: QBig. Tracy has presented Nationally and Internationally on Pressure Injury Prevention and Management and caring for the Bariatric Patient. Tracy believes in fun through learning and looking at new horizons of how we do business. Tracy is consistently highly evaluated by those who attend her educational sessions.
