Environmental Home Modifications – The Basics is a comprehensive two-day workshop designed to build a strong foundation in this practice area. Presented by highly experienced occupational therapist, Sandi Lightfoot-Collins with more than 40 years of clinical expertise, this workshop blends theory with hands-on, practical learning to support occupational therapists to develop confidence, competence, and professional readiness.
Whether you are early in your career or seeking to strengthen your environmental modification capabilities, this workshop provides clear, structured guidance with real-world application and examples.
Across two interactive days, participants will work through measurement, design, and clinical reasoning tasks using a client-centred and evidence-informed framework. You will gain essential skills for collaborating with clients, builders, and funders, while learning how to navigate legislative requirements and reduce clinical risk.

Sandi Lightfoot-Collins
Sandi graduated from Sydney University in 1984. Since that time, she has had broad clinical experience within paediatrics, aged care, community, and mental health, and NDIS. She has presented nationally on home modifications, across various funding bodies and complexity. Presentations on environmental modifications has occurred both locally and internationally. These skills have seen her work with local councils on access and modifications, as well as working as a planner for redevelopments of new build/retro fit of a hospital. Sandi has taught extensively into the undergraduate and masters course within the OT faculty at University of Sydney and maintains a private consultancy.
