EOI: Health Professionals National Disability Advisory Service

OTA has received the following communication from the Australian Government Department of Health. They are calling for expressions of interest to assist with the Health Professionals National Disability Advisory Service hotline they are in the process of establishing. Find out how you can help below:

The Australian Government Department of Health is in the process of establishing a Health Professionals National Disability Advisory Service to support the healthcare of people with disability during the COVID-19 outbreak. The hotline will be used by health professionals seeking specialised advice regarding the care of a person with disability diagnosed with COVID-19 or experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, particularly where specialised assistance is required i.e. in relation to risk reduction, testing, behaviours of concern and hospitalisation associated issues.

It is currently intended that calls to the hotline will be answered by appropriately qualified and experienced allied health professionals and nurses with experience working with people with disability, with queries able to be escalated to a specialised medical practitioner where necessary following triage.

As such, we are seeking expressions of interest from allied health professionals with experience working with people with disability, including those with communication and behavioural issues – such as psychologists, speech pathologists, occupational therapists and social workers – who would be interested in answering and triaging calls through the hotline.

Interested candidates are requested to send a short CV and covering email detailing their relevant experience and any other relevant information to COVID-19Disability@health.gov.au by close of business on 29 April 2020.
